Harlequin’s global reach now extends to South Africa as Joburg Ballet move to a new Harlequin performance floor vinyl. They are a full-time professional ballet company, resident at Joburg Theatre in the heart of Johannesburg.
Over 480m² of premium Harlequin Cascade performance floor vinyl was newly installed at Joburg Ballet’s rehearsal studios.
The studio refurbishments were completed with contributions from the Friends of the Ballet, whose committee members joined Principal Dancer Shannon Glover to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
Harlequin are proud to support Joburg Ballet and look forward to a long-lasting relationship with them.
The company’s Artistic Director, Iain MacDonald has spoken about upgrading the studios with Harlequin floors:
Rehearsals are underway for the company’s new production of Don Quixote, a 10-performance season, which runs from, 13th to 22nd March. Joburg Ballet will host two of The Royal Ballet’s major international ballet stars, Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov, who will perform the leading roles at the Joburg Theatre on March 20th & 22nd. The other performances will feature Joburg Ballet’s own leading dancers accompanied by The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Commenting on the visit by Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov, Joburg Ballet CEO Esther Nasser said: “It is a tremendous coup for Joburg Ballet to have engaged Ms Nuñez and Mr Muntagirov as guest artists for Don Quixote in what seems set to be one of the most exciting events on the South African ballet calendar in recent years.”
Artistic director Iain MacDonald added: “We look forward to welcoming Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov to Joburg Ballet to dance two of classical ballet’s most dazzling roles. It will be an exciting experience not only for our audiences but also for our dancers who will be sharing the stage with Marianela and Vadim.”
