Blommaert Ballet School
Project Details
Sander Blommaert founded Blommaert Ballet School in 2016 and since then he has expanded his business and school by opening a home studio space where he offers one-to-one tuition.
For his new home studio, Sander chose a Harlequin Flexity sprung floor finished with a Harlequin Cascade performance vinyl top surface.
Sander first remember’s dancing on a Harlequin floor at the Royal Ballet School. He said: “Having trained at the Royal Ballet School and danced for the Royal Ballet Company, I benefited from dancing on their Harlequin floors. I have faith in these leading dance organisations to choose the best flooring possible, and that was Harlequin. Naturally when I had my own studio, Harlequin was therefore my floor of choice.”
When Harlequin installed Sander’s new floor into his studio, Sander explained it was important that his students danced on a Harlequin sprung floor to “help absorb impact, from jumps, thereby contributing towards minimising the risk of injury and promoting longevity of the dancer’s body”.
Sander trained at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp until the age of 15 before joining the Royal Ballet School in London. After graduating, Sander joined the Royal Ballet Company for 7 years and was promoted to First Artist. In 2016 he decided to pursue his passion for teaching which he now does full-time.
Sander’s plans for the future are to continue helping his students on their dancing journeys.
