Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies – Dance, Technology and Harlequin Hi-Shine
09.02.2026
Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies is an exhibition exploring the work of Sir Wayne McGregor CBE, examining how more than three decades of practice continue to push the boundaries of movement, data and physical intelligence.
Presented at the Embankment Galleries at Somerset House, the exhibition brings together choreography, digital systems, film and immersive installation, examining how McGregor’s work responds to the evolving relationship between the human body and technology.

Deepstaria featuring Harlequin Hi-Shine
Premiering last year at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Deepstaria is now touring internationally over the next four years. For the production, McGregor selected Harlequin Hi-Shine to create a visually striking environment that amplifies darkness and reflected light.
Within the Infinite Bodies exhibition, the same high-gloss vinyl floor moves from stage to exhibition space, highlighting how Harlequin Hi-Shine elevates immersive environments through reflection and light.
Insights from Wayne McGregor and the Exhibition Team
Sir Wayne McGregor CBE, choreographer and director
“We first used Harlequin’s high gloss floor in Deepstaria, where we wanted to create an environment that disturbs traditional hierarchies of perception – a reflective void of unfathomable darkness. For Infinite Bodies, the high gloss floor acts as a mirror to three enormous screens becoming a vast pool of constant transforming light, once again playing an extraordinary role in this shifting of the senses.”
Philippa Dunn, Co-curator, Infinite Bodies
‘We always knew we wanted to use Harlequin’s high gloss floor for the installation at the heart of Infinite Bodies: a high octane cinematic experience in which physical intelligence finds its ultimate expression in the language and fluency of dance. Its extraordinary mirror finish sees the space take on new dimensional properties in a sensory and immersive audience experience.’
Somerset House Exhibition Team
“Wayne McGregor: Infinite Bodies is an ambitious exhibition exploring the body, movement and technology. For the design of the film room, it was particularly important to have an authentic dance floor underfoot and Harlequin Hi-Shine floor provided this as well as a highly-reflective surface to create the sense of an all-encompassing space.”
Exploring movement and technology
Infinite Bodies asks how our movements, instincts and senses evolve when they encounter robotics and digital systems. Through a series of multi-sensory and interactive works, the exhibition explores what it means to move, feel and be human when the body becomes both performer and instrument.
The exhibition celebrates McGregor’s collaborations with world-leading artists, designers, filmmakers and musicians, including Industrial Light & Magic, Random International, Google Arts & Culture, Max Richter, Radiohead and The Chemical Brothers. Contributions from Ben Cullen Williams, Ravi Deepres, Jeffrey Shaw, Gareth Pugh, Indigo Lewin, Ruth Hogben and Nick Knight further demonstrate how movement can operate as a creative medium beyond the stage.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors can witness dancers activating installations in real time, blurring the line between audience and performance. The exhibition is open until 22 February and runs Wednesday to Sunday.
