Celebrating 30 Years of Pointers Dance Studio & Gymnastics Academy

8th January 2025

Pointers Dance Studio, a family-run dance and gymnastics school in Wallington, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

When Charley Nichols, Principal of Pointers Dance Studio & Gymnastics Academy, opened the company she decided to invest in a Harlequin floor after the church hall they rented decided to ban them from tapping directly on the hall floor.

For nearly three decades Charley continued to use the same trusted rolls of Harlequin Reversible vinyl floor from 1996. That Harlequin floor was used frequently in classes but also for festivals, exams, and lent to friends over the years.

With Pointers Dance Studio just celebrating its 30th anniversary, Charley thought it was time to replace the 28-year old Harlequin vinyl. After observing students who took their exams on the new Harlequin Reversible vinyl floor, Charley said: “The improved sound quality was immediately noticeable. We plan to look after this one so it can last another 28 years! Our older vinyl has been passed on to a friend who has just taken over a school so we know it has gone to a good second home!”

Over the years, the studio has grown into a true family affair, with Charley’s daughter now teaching alongside her and her husband coaching gymnastics – and often handling the task of laying down the floors.

Since opening its doors in September 1994, Pointers Dance Studio has been a hub of creativity and movement, with all classes now taking place at Bandon Hill Primary School.  Pointers Dance Studio offers a variety of classes including ballet, tap, jazz and street dancing.
