Which TV studio flooring material will you choose from Harlequin?
Harlequin offers a wide variety of media production and TV studio flooring products. From reversible performance floors to glossy, reflective flooring that is ideal to use as a TV show stage, there is something for every specification:
Harlequin Reversible
Harlequin Reversible is a versatile, fully reversible performance floor. Both sides are slip resistant, minimising the risk of performers injuring themselves on your TV stage.
This flooring is available in a wide variety of colours including Chroma Key Green/Blue and Projection Grey/Black. Projection Grey/Black is ideal for the media production industry because it enables projections to be cast onto the TV show stage, while Chroma Key Green/Blue enables digital compositing which means it can also be used as a backdrop on film sets.
Harlequin Hi-Shine
Harlequin Hi-Shine is a high gloss, shiny, wet-look vinyl floor that gives an almost mirror effect. This flooring is also scratch-resistant which means it will stay looking flawless throughout performances, episodes and scenes.
Our Hi-Shine floor is ideal to use on a TV stage for live events because of its slick, glossy finish. It is a highly stylish, but still durable and hard-wearing floor which is why it has been used as TV studio flooring for The X Factor!
Printed Vinyl flooring
Printed vinyl flooring is available on a number of Harlequin vinyl floors, widely used on film sets. With our vinyl flooring, you can have a completely bespoke design which looks great on a TV stage, or you can select one of our standard patterns or images.
Depending upon your needs, the above vinyls can be used in conjunction with a Harlequin Liberty sprung floor which can be purchased or temporarily installed as a part of our dance floor hire service.
We make TV sets, mainly for light entertainment shows. The floor is important to our clients who often specify gloss black. Harlequin Floors have always been good quality which is why we keep coming back

What’s the best way to move a Harlequin vinyl floor around?
If the floor is being transported to another location, retain the original packaging (box and inserts) for reuse to protect the floor in transit. Alternatively, you can use Harlequin vinyl floor storage bags.
Always ensure that the Harlequin Vinyl Floor is cleaned before it is rolled up. If there is any dirt on the underside sweep it clean to prevent transfer onto the performance surface when rolling.
Ensure that all adhesive residue from the tape is removed before rolling, otherwise it may be transferred to the performance surface and cause damage. Any stubborn adhesive residue can be removed using warm soapy water and a non-abrasive scouring pad. Allow to the soapy water to penetrate before using the pad. If any adhesive residue remains, dab lightly with methylated spirit and wipe off with a soft cloth
Retain the original cardboard core, as it will be required to roll the floor after use. The cores help support the product and will prevent damage caused by bending and creasing. Use of the core will also make the rolled floor easier to handle. If the original cardboard cores are no longer available, use a PVC drainpipe with a minimum diameter of 75mm, ideally 100mm.
How is a Harlequin vinyl floor supplied?
Harlequin vinyl floors are available in widths of either 1.5m or 2m and in varying roll lengths depending on the product chosen.
What type of surface or sub-floor can a Harlequin vinyl floor be laid on?
A Harlequin vinyl floor can be laid onto most level sub-floors, including concrete, wood or tiles, although we don’t advise laying onto carpet. If a sub-floor is not level or is unacceptably hard, then a Harlequin sprung floor can be used in conjunction with a Harlequin performance surface (vinyl floor, hardwood or engineered board). If you are worried whether your existing floor is suitable, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
How should I store a Harlequin vinyl floor?

A permanent vinyl floor is stuck down with adhesive and can’t be removed without risking damage to the floor. A semi-permanent vinyl floor is loose-laid using double-sided tape and then welded at the seams. The seams can later be cut and the floor taken up. A portable vinyl floor is rolled out and the seams are either covered with tape or temporarily secured to the sub-floor on the underside with double-sided tape.
