London Children's Ballet return to the Peacock Theatre with its production of Snow White

12th April 2023

After months of rehearsals at their studios in Battersea, London Children’s Ballet prepare for the opening night of Snow White at the Peacock Theatre this week.

London Children’s Ballet (LCB) is a registered charity that has produced ballet shows for over 25 years with the goal of giving young talented dancers the chance to take part in a West End production.

In 2021, LCB worked with the Wandsworth Council to open their new home in Battersea which includes two studios used for workshops, masterclasses and dance rehearsals.

When Ruth Brill, LCB’s Artistic Director, worked with the council she knew that the only option was to have Harlequin floors in the studios.

Ruth said: “Having been a professional dancer myself with the English National Ballet and the Birmingham Royal Ballet, I know how physically demanding it is training as a dancer. When we got this space there was no option to do this by halves, if we were doing it we were doing it properly, so it was important to have Harlequin as a partner to get the floors, barres and mirrors to the professional standard that these kids are striving for.”

LCB’s HQ now includes state-of-the-art dance studios, complete with Harlequin Activity sprung floor and Harlequin Cascade vinyl floor, ballet barres and mirrors, as well as an open plan office, a meeting room and storage to house its collection of costumes and props.

This year the London Children’s Ballet dancers have used the studio space to rehearse for the 2023 production of Snow White. The 50 talented dancers aged 9-16 years old are returning to the Peacock Theatre on 13th – 16th April.

Snow White is a brand new two-act ballet with original music, played by a live orchestra, and new choreography. The ballet is full of humour and drama, choreographed by Gavin McCaig who has worked closely with Matthew Topliss, Rehearsal Director.

Tickets are open to the public including access to a ‘Ballet for £1’ show and a big Gala event on Saturday 15thApril.

Some of LCB’s alumni have gone on to train at the Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet School.
