“The Essence of Beauty – Ballet” exhibition is at the Sogo Museum of Art, Yokohama, Japan until the 25th December 2018.
Curated from The Kenji Usui Ballet Collection, owned by former chairman of the Japan Ballet Association – it is considered to be the world’s largest collection of photographs, posters and memorabilia related to the history and art of ballet.
The exhibition of more than 300 items from the collection includes the possessions of dancer Eliana Pavlova, a replica of Tsuguharu Foujita’s painting “Swan Lake,” costumes from the Asami Maki Ballet company and includes rare footage of dancer Anna Pavlova.
