Harlequin in Houston

Once again, Harlequin Floors were actively involved in the annual International Association for
Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS)
meeting, this year hosted by the city of Houston,USA.

A joint Anglo-American team from Harlequin’s UK and US offices was led by Head of Industry
Relations Mark Rasmussen and the Director of US Marketing, Chrissy Ott.

Following the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, Houston had been in the news in the weeks
leading up to the conference and Harlequin stopped by Houston Ballet to take a look at their
recovery efforts. Teams from American Harlequin had already been in attendance earlier that
month installing floors in damaged studios. It was wonderful to see the students & company
dancing again!

On the final day of the meeting, Mark Rasmussen presented the Harlequin sponsored Marjorie
Moore Student Poster Award. The poster presentations generated a lot of interest, with senior
members on hand to select the winner. This year the award went to Katie Lerch for her poster on
‘Examining the saut de chat leap’. Although not available to collect the prize herself, the trophy
was collected by a friend. The winner from the previous year, K Michael Rowley, said that Katie
would be thrilled.

Summing up this year’s IADMS conference, Mark Rasmussen said, “Harlequin Floors continues
to be an enthusiastic Major Supporter of IADMS. The presentations and research, some of it
Harlequin Sponsored, is an important part of our work and we always learn much from colleagues
and friends.”

Next year’s IADMS meeting will be taking place in Helsinki, 25th-28th October 2018.
