Your design needs to be modern and use quality materials
Your design needs to be portable, sturdy and easy to assemble

That’s it! As long as your entry reaches us before the closing date, your submission will be valid.
All designs will then be judged by a panel of Harlequin senior management and leading dance professionals.

Harlequin Ballet Barre Competition
1. The Promoter
The Promoter is: British Harlequin plc, Festival House, Chapman Way, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN2 3EF.
2. The Competition
2.1 The title of the competition is "Design a Ballet Barre 2019".
2.2 The structure of the competition is as follows:
2.2.1 the competition is to design a free-standing ballet barre for use in ballet schools. You need to prepare a look and feel, as well as a technical specification for the barre. The design should be practical, beautiful and commercially viable. Please see the judging criteria;
2.2.2 your entries can be submitted on paper or by email;
2.2.3 three finalists will be chosen and announced by 31st January 2020 and a single prototype of each of the finalist's designs shall be manufactured by the Promoter; and
2.2.4 the judges will chose a winner between the prototypes of the three finalists and the winner shall be announced by 31st March 2020.
3. How to Enter
3.1 The competition will run from 9am on 23rd October 2019 (the Opening Date) to 23:59pm on 31st December 2019 (the Closing Date) inclusive.

3.5 The Promoter will not accept:
3.5.1 responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
3.5.2 proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
3.6 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3.7 These terms and conditions are final and to the exclusion of all other terms and conditions that participants may seek to apply. They form the entire agreement in relation to the competition and extinguish all promises, warranties and representations whether written or oral relating to the subject matter and howsoever communicated.

3.9 The competition entries will be judged by a panel of judges, including one judge independent of the Promoter, based on:
3.9.4 consistency with the Promoter's brand;
3.9.5 durability; and
3.9.6 stability versus design.
The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) will be final.
3.10 The Promoter will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the judges and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to the address set out in clause 1.
4.1 The competition is only open to all, except:
4.1.1 employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;
4.1.2 employees of agents or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
4.1.3 members of the immediate families or households of 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 above.
4.2 Entries made by persons under 18 years of age, must be accompanied by a letter of consent to enter the competition on these terms and conditions from a person with parental responsibility.
4.3 In entering the competition:
4.3.1 you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition; and
4.3.2 you consent to take part in reasonable publicity on behalf of the Promoter. Such participation shall not be remunerated.
4.4 The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are:
4.4.1 automatically generated by computer;
4.4.2 completed by third parties or in bulk;
4.4.3 illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with;
4.4.4 photocopies and not originals; or
4.5 There is a no limit to the number of entries you can make. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed because the Promoter is unable to split the prize.
4.6 The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition or the Promoter has reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions.
4.7 Competition entries cannot be returned.
5. The Prize
5.1 There is one prize only. The prize is
5.1.1 a weekend for two in Paris, France including flights from the United Kingdom to Paris, France, hotel accommodation and dinner and tickets to see the Paris Opera Ballet with a visit behind the scenes of the World famous Palais Garnier (Weekend).; and
5.1.2 to receive the first finished production of your ballet barre design for you/your ballet school.
5.2 The Weekend is for two people for two nights between 1st April 2020 and September 2020. The Weekend does not include travel insurance, the cost of transport around Paris, transfers to and from airports or stations, food and drink beyond dinner, spending money, tax or personal expenses. Any other costs incurred in addition to those set out above and that are incidental to the fulfilment of the Weekend are the responsibility of the winner.
5.3 You will be responsible for ensuring that you and any person travelling with you are available to travel and hold valid passports, any necessary visas and travel documents for the Weekend on the travel dates specified. Dates once notified to the Promoter cannot be changed.
5.4 Prizes are subject to availability. There is no cash alternative for the prize.
5.5 The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
5.6 In order to claim the prize you must contact the Promoter by email or correspondence no more than 28 days from notification of winning. If the prize is unclaimed, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to an alternative competitor, in accordance with these terms and conditions.
6.1 The decision of the judges nominated by the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
6.2 The Promoter will contact the winner personally as soon as practicable after the Announcement Date, using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry. The Promoter will not amend any contact information once the competition entry form has been submitted.
6.3 The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners to anyone who emails firstname.lastname@example.org or writes to the address set out in clause 1 (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within three months after the Closing Date of the competition.
6.4 If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
7. Claiming the Prize
7.1 If you are the winner of the prize, you will have 28 days from the Announcement Date to claim the prize by reference to the details of how to claim in clause 5.6. If you do not claim the prize by this date, your claim will become invalid.
7.2 The prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf, unless you are under 18 years of age, in which case, the prize must be claimed by a person with parental responsibility.
7.3 The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 28 days of the Announcement Date, the Promoter reserves the right to ward the prize to an alternative competitor, in accordance with these terms and conditions.
7.4 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
8. Limitation of Liability
Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
9. Ownership of Competition Entries and Intellectual Property Rights
9.1 All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to the Promoter will become the property of the Promoter on receipt and will not be returned. You warrant that your competition entry is free from copyrighted and third party materials and is your own original work and has not been copied wholly or substantially from any other source.
9.2 By submitting your competition entry and any accompanying material, you agree to:
9.2.1 assign, without further royalty or other recompense beyond entry into the competition, to the Promoter, all your intellectual property rights with full title guarantee; and
9.2.2 waive all moral rights,
in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
9.3 For the avoidance of doubt, entrants shall not be entitled to sell, produce, manufacture or otherwise exploit (commercially or not for profit) the designs entered into the competition. The winner will not be entitled to any royalty from the Promoter for any onward development, manufacture, sale or other commercial exploitation made from the intellectual property rights.
9.4 You agree that the Promoter may, but is not required to, make your entry available on its website and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant the Promoter an exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.
10. Data Protection and Publicity
10.1 The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the https://uk.harlequinfloors.com/en/legal/privacy-policy. See also clause 6.3 and clause 6.4, with regard to the announcement of winners.
10.2 The existence of the competition, the award of the winners and other promotional materials may be placed on Facebook, Twitter or other social media or other communications and marketing platforms and publications. This promotion is not sponsored or endorsed or administered by those platforms and enquires should only be addressed to the Promoter.
11.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
11.2 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so. The Promoter shall exercise this right reasonably with the aim of minimising the effect on competition entrants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
11.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
